4. De l’homme augmenté à l’homme supplanté : IA, golem et transcendance

Résumé : L’IA constitue une déterminante expression de l’essor de la technologie numérique contemporaine, ravivant paradoxalement la question du statut de l’homme face à ses propres créations. En offrant à l’homme l’occasion de célébrer son augmentisme, elle ne manque pas d’interroger l’horizon axiologique de cette propension. Notre étude examine la portée anthropologico-théologique de cette mutation en cherchant à comprendre si l’IA consacre réellement l’avènement de « l’homme augmenté » ou si elle l’expose au risque de voir advenir un horizon de « l’homme supplanté » par sa propre production. L’analyse de cette tension nous a conduits à mobiliser l’approche mythologique de la figure du golem, de la tradition kabbalistique juive, que nous considérons comme archétypique de l’ambivalence de la puissance humaine lorsqu’elle se déploie dans la création artificielle. Il ressort de l’étude l’évidence que l’IA représente une prouesse technologique majeure, porteuse d’une prétention à la recomposition de la transcendance, avec la velléité d’une nouvelle proclamation de la mort de Dieu, à l’instar du mythe du golem. Toutefois, cela met en lumière des enjeux éthiques et anthropologico-théologiques qui doivent être pris en compte afin d’éviter que cette prouesse ne devienne un problème axiologique majeur pour l’humain lui‑même.

From the augmented human to supplanted human: AI, the golem and transcendence
Abstract: AI is a defining expression of the rise of contemporary technology, paradoxically reviving the question of humanity’s status in relation to its own creations. By offering humanity the opportunity to celebrate its augmentation, it inevitably raises questions about the axiological horizon of this propensity. Our study examines the anthropological and theological implications of this transformation, seeking to understand whether AI truly heralds the advent of the « augmented human » or exposes humanity to the risk of a future where it is « supplanted » by its own creation. Analyzing this tension led us to draw upon the mythological figure of the golem from the Jewish Kabbalistic tradition, which we consider archetypal of the ambivalence of human power when it is deployed in artificial creation. The study clearly demonstrates that AI represents a major technological achievement, carrying with it a claim to redefine transcendence, with the potential for a new proclamation of the death of God, akin to the myth of the golem. However, this highlights ethical and anthropological-theological issues that must be addressed to prevent this achievement from becoming a major axiological problem for humanity itself.
